Photos, markings and the report
Take photos of a tree, mark up defects with arrows, circles and labels, choose the main photo, and decide which photos go in the report.

Every photo belongs to the tree, in its gallery, so it’s there for every future assessment. An assessment links the photos it needs, and those can go in the report.
Add photos
- In an assessment: under any target, condition or failure type, tap Add photo to take one, or Add from tree gallery to use one you’ve already taken.
- On the tree’s page: open the Photos tab and click Add photos.
- In field mode: on the tree’s page, tap Take photos or Add from library.
Photos taken offline wait on the phone and upload when you’re back in signal; the status bar counts them.
Mark up a photo
Arrows and circles show your client exactly what you mean. Tap Mark up on any photo:
- Choose Arrow, Circle or Label, and a colour: red, yellow or white.
- Drag on the photo to draw. For a label, type the Label text and tap Add label.
- Use Select to pick a shape and Delete shape, Undo to step back, or Clear all to start again.
- Tap Done.
The markings are printed over the photo in reports. The original photo is never changed.
Captions and the main photo
Add a Caption to say what the photo shows; it prints beside it in the report. On the tree’s Photos tab, Use as main photo picks the one that represents the tree in lists and on the report’s first page.
Choose what goes in the report
In the assessment, each photo has an Include in report box, ticked when you add the photo. Untick a photo to keep it for your records only.
On the reports page, Include photo appendix adds the included photos at the back of the report. Remove takes a photo out of the assessment; it stays in the tree’s gallery.
