AI tree assessment software

AI tree assessment software that keeps the arborist in charge.

Connect your own Anthropic key and Claude takes a first look at a tree: it reads the photos and details, writes a summary that cites each photo, and suggests findings for you to check.

A day on the job

A first look before you start.

You've photographed a large oak from every side. Before you work through the assessment, you ask for an AI first look.

The tree's photo gallery on a phone: numbered photos of the trunk and leaves, one with a defect circled in orange.

1. Photograph the tree

Every photo goes into the tree's numbered gallery.

The tree's AI analysis on a phone: a written summary of the tree's site, defects and decay, citing photo numbers, with the photos sent and the cost.

2. Read the analysis

Claude's summary of the site, defects and decay, naming the photos it saw them in, with what it cost.

Reviewing an AI analysis on a phone: suggested trunk conditions, each ticked, with its confidence, the value it would fill in, the evidence and the photos it came from.

3. Check each finding

Every suggestion is shown beside its photos. Tick what's right; nothing goes in until you do.

The Mitigation tab in field mode on a phone: a pruning recommendation and its residual risk, with the failure types it addresses ticked.

4. The rating is still yours

Applied fields wear an AI badge until you edit them, and the risk matrix calculates every rating.

What's included

AI that helps, on your terms.

Your own key

Analyses run on your Anthropic API key, billed by Anthropic, with a daily limit you set.

Findings from photos

Targets, conditions, failure types and mitigation suggested from the photos and details.

Every finding cites its photos

Each suggestion names the photo numbers it came from, so you can check it.

Nothing without your tick

Review every suggestion first. Only what you tick is applied, and it never overwrites what you entered.

Ratings from the matrix

The AI never supplies a rating. The risk matrix calculates every one.

Never in your reports

Nothing the AI wrote appears in a report. Reports print only what's in the assessment.

Start from your notes

Dictate your notes and RootFlare fills in a new assessment from them for you to check.

Identify a tree

Send up to five photos and get the likely species, to start a tree record from.

FAQ

Questions arborists ask.

Which AI does RootFlare use?

Claude, by Anthropic. You add your own Anthropic API key in Settings, and every analysis runs on it.

What does an analysis cost?

Anthropic bills your key for each analysis, and RootFlare shows the cost of every one beside it. You set how many AI runs your account can make each day.

Does the AI decide the risk rating?

No. The AI can suggest the likelihood of failure, likelihood of impact and consequences, but only what you apply is used, and the rating is always calculated by the risk matrix.

Will AI text appear in my reports?

Never. Reports print what's in the assessment. Nothing the AI wrote, and no analysis, is ever part of a report.

What information is sent to the AI?

The tree's photos and its details. Your client's name, the site address, your business and your own details are never sent.

Does it work offline?

No. AI analysis needs a connection, so it runs from the tree's page online. Field mode itself works without signal.
